The Prince loves watching the Count work, but he has so much to do. He’s going to start Westley on “the machine.” He asks if the Prince is joining them. Rugen looks for the secret knot to the Pit of Despair. He will blame Guilder and the nation will be so outraged, they will demand Florin goes to war. It’s going to be more moving when he strangles Buttercup on their wedding night. He says when he thought it was clever to hire Vizzini to kidnap and murder the Princess. Humperdinck ( Elijah Wood) agrees, saying the people are quite taken with Buttercup. Later Count Rugen ( Andy Serkis) compliments the Princess and her appeal. Buttercup says her Westley will always come for her. But if he doesn’t want her, Humperdinck asks her to consider him as an alternative to suicide. If Westley still wants her, he will let her go. He tells her to write four letters and he will send his four fastest ships in each direction to find Westley. Humperdinck agrees to call the wedding off. If she still has to marry the Prince, she will kill herself by morning. She tells the Prince that she loves Westley and she always will. The Kid was right… I guess.īuttercup ( Zoe Saldana) jumps out of bed and runs to Humperdinck’s ( Don Johnson) chambers. It’s 10 days until the wedding and the King still lives. The Booer calls her rubbish, filth, slime and continues to boo until Buttercup wakes up from her nightmare. It was love that saved her in the Fire Swap and she threw him away like garbage. The Ancient Booer (also Garner) says Buttercup had love in her hands. Buttercup steps out and a lady starts booing her. Humperdinck introduces his queen, Buttercup ( Jennifer Garner). Grandpa considers stopping, but The Kid wants him to continue. The Kid thinks Grandpa is messing up the story and tells him to get it right. It wouldn’t be fair for her to marry Humperdinck. He says Buttercup is supposed to marry Westley. HOLD UP! The Kid ( Logan Kim) stops his grandpa ( Sarah Silverman) from reading. Humperdinck ( Chef José Andrés) addresses his subjects to introduce his queen. So Buttercup and Humperdinc k were married. The next morning, before dawn, the King died. He says Westley survived the Fire Swamp, so he must be brave. Westley assumes he’s to be tortured and he can cope with that. The Albino says the Prince and the Count want everyone to be healthy before they break them. Westley knows he’s there until he dies, but doesn’t understand why the Albino is curing him. The one entrance is a secret that only the Prince, the Count and the Albino know of. The Albino ( Nicholas Braun) tells Westley, there’s no chance of escape or rescue. Westley ( Christopher Mintz-Plasse) wakes up in the Pit of Despair while an albino man cleans up his shoulder wound. RELATED: Recap The Princess Bride Home Movie Chapter 6, “The Fire Swamp” Here! As the supposed guilty parents of Ferdinand Arion Bakare is every inch the alpha male lawyer, Dinita Gohil the vomiting shyer wife, a wifely worm who finally turns in fury. The quartet under Nicholai La Barrie get it generally right, body language and deadly-flat verbal knifings perfect, from the frigid politesses to the frankly pissed once the rum comes out. In 2006 it was early on the curve with a character’s constant intrusive phone calls and i wondered whether it would feel dated. It is a favourite play, polished and mean, Yasmina Reza deploying that magnificent French brutality about bourgeois behaviour, in a sharp translation by Christopher Hampton. Especially interesting when set aside Chichester’s childless, slightly younger foursome whose whole preoccupation is with their own identity troubles. Cue sexual, political, economic and protectively parental hostility. It’s a wonderful set by Lily Arnold, pinpoint sharp in its elegant chic middleclass minimalism with one nicely pretentious sculpture: better still, it is on an almost unnoticeably slow revolve, as the four are trapped, Huis-Clos style, in hellish circular oneupmanship and, selfrighteousness. That’s just the start, civilization’s red tooth and claws ever nearer the surface. And by his wife having a panic attack and vomiting on Veronica’s original Kokoschka catalogue. That is interrupted too often by Alan taking calls about the pharmaceutical company he lawyers for. So there is coffee and a home made clafoutis. Mutual tension must of course be muffled by social grace, so after an initial wary agreement to make the boys reconcile (or to put it Veronica’s way, make Ferdinand apologize, for his own moral good). Cue the first fault-line: perpetrator-parents object to the word “armed”, so it is grudgingly amended to “furnished”. Michael and Veronica’s 11 year old son Bruno has had his front teeth damaged in a scuffle with Alan and Annette’s son Ferdinand, armed with a bit of stick. This, which I caught in a late preview, is one I always like: any responsible schoolgate meeting in a nice if rather pretentious living-room. Two four-handers about awful middle class behaviour in a week: just what the irritable heatwave needed. Logitech’s customization software is fairly easy to use and highly advised for a mouse with this many buttons. There’s enough resistance to keep us from misclicking while resting our finger on the buttons, but none feel too squishy. The switches underneath the buttons feel great, giving a responsive click with minimal actuation force. Our only pain point comes from how often we manage to misclick the button that increases DPI, and suddenly we’re at 5,000 DPI instead of 2,500. We went through a lot of Black Ops 4’s Black Out mode and plenty of Overwatch to see how it kept up with the split-second reaction times and high precision required in each game, and it didn’t let us down in the slightest. And, thanks to tracking at max speeds over 400 inches-per-second and max accelerations over 40Gs, it’ll be hard to push this mouse past its limit. What matters is how well it responds to our hand movements and how consistent it is. It supports a DPI range from 100 to 16,000, though we find the upper limit largely unimportant. The Hero sensor offers flawless tracking from our experience with it. But, the Hero sensor is what helps the mouse shine. The Logitech G502 Hero features the 1,000Hz polling rate and 1ms response time as expected from a proper gaming mouse, and we hardly notice any shortcomings in this department. 6g weights that can give the G502 Hero a nice heft. A claw grip works well enough, but deeper grooves and a softer rubber finish would offer a more trustworthy hold.Ī compartment on the bottom pops open, allowing the addition of up to five 3. It’s a bit on the thin side, and the side grips don’t offer much traction. The G502 Hero isn’t the most comfortable for larger hands. We keep them set to DPI switches, and the forward most one is easy enough to accidentally hit and feel the whiplash of a suddenly much faster mouse. Some people may struggle with the two buttons on the left of the primary mouse button. The three thumb buttons are easy to distinguish by feel, well within reach, but hard to misclick. By default, the DPI indicators don’t stay lit though.įor the most part, button placement is good. Both lighting zones are smartly placed so they’re visible between your thumb and index finger when holding the mouse. The G502 Hero features customizable RGB lighting for the DPI indicators and Logitech G logo. The two buttons to the left of the primary click also oddly hang over the edge and feel as though they could snap off easily. Though the G502’s overall build quality feels sturdy, all the hard angles almost make it seem like this mouse could draw blood. Terms of service and other long documents have never been easier to not read. Toggling the mouse for infinite scrolling lets the wheel spin so freely that a good flick can keep it spinning for over 10 seconds. A button just behind the scroll wheel toggles the notched scrolling, and it’s a real delight with pronounced clicks. The scroll wheel is shiny, metallic and neatly notched. The matte plastic does a good job of hiding hand grease, but the glossy plastic fares worse. The build combines matte black plastic for the primary buttons and grips, and puts glossy plastic between the mouse’s aesthetically different sections and on the extra buttons. Since "Kindred" is a pithy novel driven by ideas, to work as a TV series, it needs to flesh out the characters and expand the action to create dramatic scenes. And where the novel's Kevin is Dana's sturdy, principled husband, the show's Kevin is less obviously noble and more steeped in today's irony drenched mannerisms. We're not dealing with two periods that both feel historical. Some of them help the show, like updating the contemporary sequences by 40 years, so that the line between past and present stays clean. In adapting a modern classic, Jacobs-Jenkins has not shied away from making changes. And she realizes that she must try to help those trapped by slavery. They find themselves in a plantation owned by Rufus's father, the vicious Thomas Weylin - that's Ryan Kwanten - and his nasty wife, Margaret, played by Gale Rankin from "GLOW." As Dana and Kevin wade ever deeper into the treacherous currents of the antebellum South, she grasps that this plantation may be central to her family's history. Not only does Dana keep falling into the past for longer and longer periods, she pulls Kevin along with her. Am I crazy? I sound crazy, but it happened. MALLORI JOHNSON: (As Dana James) I got up to get a glass of water, and I was here, and I was drinking it. And then, poof, again, she's back in LA, trying to explain to Kevin what happened. She winds up in what we will learn is 1815 Maryland, where she saves a boy named Rufus from drowning and then is surrounded by menacing white folks. The two are just beginning a romance when, poof, Dana drops through a temporal trapdoor. She quickly meets up with Kevin Franklin, a hipster-ish white waiter played by Micah Stock, who sometimes appears to be channeling Bill Murray. The appealing newcomer Mallori Johnson stars as Dana James, a 26-year-old Black writer who's just moved to 2016 LA in hopes of writing for TV. The book has now been turned into an ambitious new FX series by another MacArthur fellow, playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, who gives Butler's tale a twirl of his own. In her most popular novel, the 1979 "Kindred," she put a searing spin on the time travel story, shuttling her heroine back and forth between 1970s la and a pre-Civil War plantation. One person who had the talent was the late Octavia Butler, the Black speculative fiction writer who, although she received a MacArthur Genius grant in 1995, has only recently begun to be fully appreciated as the visionary she was. Time loops have been used in so many stories that you need real talent to make them original. Kirk gets shunted into the past and can't resist trying to change history. We'll hear an interview with her from our archive. The series, which is now on Hulu, is based on the novel by the acclaimed late science fiction writer Octavia Butler. In the new TV series "Kindred," a young Black woman gets transported back in time from the present day to the era of slavery. If there are any you are concerned about, talk with the CM at the ride entrance. Star Tours at the Studio is quite rough, with a lot of changing direction, but probably little G forces. I don't know what the G forces are, but it seems like that might be a problem. While you are falling and then being pulled up, you have a certain amount of air time when your body and the elevator are moving at a little different speeds. The pulling up and dropping cycle repeats several times - just how many is random. your elevator drops at a faster than gravity speed and then is pulled up again. Tower of Terror at the Studio also has a high 'make you sick' factor. I got my tag from describing it ("It's like combining the teacups with a roller coaster" in red under my signature - thank you, Tag Fairy). It looks like a tame little roller coaster, but it also spins randomly. Primeval Whirl at AK is one that is deceptively rough. Probably not much in terms of G forces though. There are also a lot of times when your ride car is going slowly and then abruptly speeds up or turns in another direction - all with the possibility that you might be 'turned into dinosaur food' or 'crushed/burned' by an asteroid. R&R has drops and things, but it is a smooth ride (you are in a limo, after all, rushing to a concert).įor roughness, I would rate Dinosaur at AK as rougher and it also has a high scare factor (get the adrenalin going). I would not do the more intense (Orange version) it adds the whole ride spinning to the roughness, so it would have the same effect as the fair ride that Mary wrote about. MS (the green version that does not spin) is still very rough and it has the element of scaring you (don't want to give anything away, but there are some tense moments when your 'mission' is in danger. Of course, everyone's health concerns are different, but it might help you to double check one more time before you go.Ĭlick to expand. Both of them are very intense. Also, the intense (Orange) version of Mission Space produces high G-forces as well. We're going to double check before our next WDW trip, because more of her testing should be back by then. Nevertheless, I've been nervous about coasters that go upside down (like Rock n Roller Coaster) since that experience. The doc said it might be a result of the high G-forces produced by the ride, but he wasn't sure it was a problem with her heart per se, since that type of ride could make anyone sick like that. She's a complete thrill ride junkie, but on after this ride she felt dizzy and nauseous afterwards, and her heart rate was extremely high. Her cardiologist initially said that she didn't have any ride restrictions, but then we took her to the local county fair, where she went on that ride that spins so fast that you stick to the walls when the bottom falls out. Germany / Winter Wonderland, London, UK (as Münchener Looping)Ĭharlotte, North Carolina / Fort Mill, South Carolina. My DD is being evaluated for heart problems as well (she also uses a wheelchair, but that's a completely different story). List of highest G-forces on a roller coaster Rank Riders at this threshold often begin to experience what is known as " greyout". 4G is considered a safe limit for sustained forces, as inexperienced riders beyond that may lose consciousness. Some past rides have pulled G-forces up to 12G (the Flip Flap Railway), which is dangerously extreme.Īt 2Gs, a 100-pound person would feel 200 pounds of force.
